On 10/27, Governor Gretchen Whitmer and State Treasurer Rachael Eubanks announced that eligible Michigan teachers and support staff who worked additional time and incurred additional costs during the 2019-2020 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic can receive a grant through two new grant programs. Below are the eligible classifications per the grant.
A K-12 full-time or part-time teacher with an assigned class who provided continuity of learning to students during the 2019-2020 period of school closure that resulted from COVID-19. For the purposes of this section, classroom teacher does not include substitute teachers, para-professionals, support staff, or administrators
K-12 full-time or part-time paraprofessional, aide, or non-instructional staff (counselor, social worker, SLP, OT), according to the registry of educational personnel, who provided services to students during the 2019-2020 period of school closure that resulted from COVID-19. School support staff does not include substitute teachers or classroom teachers.
Employees that meet the eligibility requirements of this grant would have received an email. You must complete the Form 5734 and return it to Human Resources via email hr@aimsus.com , fax 313.846.4514, or interoffice mail by Friday, December 4, 2020. Please do NOT send a picture of your form.
Administration will verify your status and submit your certification to the Michigan Department of Treasury in accordance with the deadline listed above. However, the claimant is responsible for the affirmation that they qualify for the grant as outlined in 3a or 3b, as applicable, of the certification.
Staff members that did not receive an email, and feel that they are eligible for this grant may appeal to the District in writing by 12/4/2020.
